Bugeye Cockpit Measurement

I'm looking for a measurement in the cockpit of a Bugeye (59). Moss refers to it as an "Outer Cross Member Section" which is the brace directly in front of the seats. Runs from the trans tunnel to the inner sill on both sides. The right side of my car was hit years ago and wasn't repaired correctly as the cross member is bent. I would like to check my measurements against someone else so if you could measure from the trans tunnel to the inner sill and let me know what you have it would be much appreciated. You should se the outer rocker, repaired with a total of 5 different pieces of metal then covered with bondo....many thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Mine is not available but should be the same on both sides, driver and passanger.

Are you sure Jack? The tunnel is not symmetrical.

Hmm, car is 300 miles away so can not measure, however that is all one peice of metal from side to side.

Lets hold off till someone can measure but my money is on them being equal length each side. Kind of what the pics indicate as well.

The peice he is referenceing is 2/5 of the entire width of the car, well the cross member. Therefor there is room for manuver to some extent and it is the only option unless you can make up one.

Thanks guys. I just want to check the measurements on both sides. I have the measurement for the left side (which I think is ok) but just wanted to see what others came up with. We'll see what kind of numbers we get.
The trans tunnel does angle from front to back and the numbers would vary on where the measurements are taken but as long as I know from what point on the trans tunnel I'll be in good shape. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Hi Gray Cat,
I have one Bugeye with the interior dismantled. I agree that the pieces don't look like they would be the same length, so I measured. I get 20 inches for each side. Jack was correct. Hope that helps.
Kevin

Just measured mine on the Tunebug. Got 19.5" both sides (plus carpet width and panel width, so 20" seems about right). At a quick measure they sure seem to be the same each side.

Bingo, and there you have it from Washington State and Utah as well.

Many thanks guys! The measurements in my car are 20" on the left side and 191/2" on the right side. At least I know the left side is ok and that I need to correct the right side while making my repairs. Thanks again! Roy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
