Anybody notice the Type 35 Bugatti that sold on EBay today. It went for $495,100.00!!!! How many TR6s could you buy with that???

My absolute, all-time, favorite car ever.

Well worth the price, especially compared to some of the schlocky "Klassic Kars" I've seen selling for twice that price.
Worth owning just to *listen* to that engine!

I almost see "replica" or "VW powered"
somewhere.
Kind of like paint-by-numbers Rembrandt.

Prices of rare cars are significantly up in the European markets. This price is not entirely surprising, given the rarity of the car.

Wow. What would it feel like to have that kind of money to spend on a toy???? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

I love the horseshoe grill as much as the next guy, but $500k is over the top for any car IMHO... now I need to go find that 250GTO that's in a garage and the widow thinks it's just junk. hehehehehehehhehe

Depends on where they are... the dollar isn't what it used to be.

I expect more American cars will be re-patriated because the weak dollar increases their affordability....

It's always great to see the T35s and similar Bugs at Lime Rock Vintage (even though I'm not a great fan of Lime Rock or the way the event is run).

Here's 5 Bugattis from a previous Lime Rock. Weak dollar or not, this is a lot of money. There were several more (including one with a Model A Ford engine!). Speaking of money, Wang usually brings his GTO and his Birdcage as well (The GTO is worth a reported $6,000,000). He races them too.

Here's a T35 motor. The hole in the top of the intake is the "backfire exhaust hole". There is a matching hole in the bonnet (neat flames come out on the overrun).

Here's a "key" Bugatti T35 item.
