Bug resto on the Navajo Reservation

I hope this dosen't get bounced as it is faith based..anyhow, while out paying bills yesterday I jumped back in the car and as I always keep the dial on 90.3(K-LOVE) they were in the middle of a story about a group that restores Bugs, then give them to a needy person or family. I was flooredby the generosity of these folks. Then they said they were going to New Mexico in July to a very needy reservation to get at least a dozen Teen-agers involved in this project. Long story short, I called my daughter and asked if she had the radio on. "Yes..and Dad I know why you called me" Then my wife...same thing. Everyone heard it. So I pulled up the website..Bugs4Christ...and read about it. I called the head of it a man named John Albryct and we talked for about 45 minutes. They had a 73 Super Beetle donated by some folks from Warner Robbins/Panama City, and are going to bring a team and tow the Bug all the way out here. Then in seven days do a body off resto and then give it to a needy family. Being I have a huge stash of new S/B parts I asked him if I could donate alot of what they need and my services. And..looks like we'll have a caravan of voluteers to follow these people when they arrive here in Clovis in July. Please pull up the wesite. Great bunch of folks.

Sounds like a great cause! I've donated two vehicles to Casa Esperanza, which provides vehicles to families in need who are battling with serious illness, drug addiction, mental health issues, etc.

Wow... great story. I guess it's true when they say:
"When one door closes, another one opens"

Very neat idea. Love the Navajo people and there way of life. Good on you for helping out! Should be nice and cool in July?
Cheers,
D.

There's always reasons we are put in the places we are. that's excellent Jack. All the stuff I'd like to say would defiantly put this thread over the edge, so I'll just leave it there. If there's anything I could offer for help, sent me a P.M. I'm probably too far away, but you never know.

Very cool and very cool that you are participating! Without taking a single thing away from the ministry it does strike me as a tad Marque specific

Thx everyone.. As far as being marque specific...he feels more qualified doing bugs as he has done quite a few, although one he did was an American car and during services one day they held up a set of "lost keys" then they called a young man up and presented them the keys...so he could finally go get a job. Need less to say he was shocked. Since all this has happened, one of my customers has offered to donate a newer style VW bus. Its an 80 model, air cooled and servicable. Would be great for a family. So far voluteers are signing on to help>>>these are just everyday people, folks who come to my shop as customers, freinds...just folks. My daughter is planning on taking her two kids, Landyn 8 and Laykn 5 up there and show them that not all kids are as fortunate and have them pitch in and help. My Grandson loves cars and hangs out at my shop. We have 5th wheels and other R/Vs and thankfully all have a/c as NM in the summer gets a bit warm. On the personal side of this, my wife goes to the church my daughters family belongs to and I go once in a while. I guess with all that has happened in my life my faith got shaken. This has reinforced my trust..and if it dosen't shock my wife...and everyone else, I'm going to ask to meet with the pastor and see if they'll have us full time.

Thanks. and blessings

Jack...
