Is it true that 58,000 + or - a bit were ever made?
What is the guess on how many are still in use?
Thanks
Sim

Only Moss knows for sure. hehe.

I'd be curious if there are more on the road now than there were, say, 20 years ago. Sure they're older, but as Donn and Frank (spritenut) show, folks are bringing back ones that would have been considered hopeless not too long ago -- maybe the numbers are going up.

There are a couple of different registries around, but none are really definitive, and they are not (so far) all that easy to research.

I would tend to think that registries are much like icebergs, they show the interest of a few really avid enthusiasts to register their pride and joy, but below the surface there have to be many more unregistered ones owned by people, many of whom have no idea that registries even exist!! I am constantly surprised at seeing how many seem to still be around!!

I agree. I know of at least three Bugeyes in 15 miles of my home that are not registered with anyone and the owners don't even use the internet to look for forums.

You mean there are LBC owners who don't use an internet forum? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Miss Agatha waves at Tunebug.

Tunebug would wave back, but right now he's huddling in our garage, trying to stay warm. Big snow today, and cold.

Charlie -- I've really come to rely on this group for the collected wisdom. I live in a moderately remote area, so local help is not right at hand, and I certainly don't have any history with these little cars. Funny how the most modern of technology helps us with our distinctly un-modern cars.

I know where two of them are - in my garage!!!!

Does any one still make the bonnet for the bugeye?
The one I have been tweeked un tweeked bent and unbent.
I think it would be cheaper to start fresh than to go to a body shop

Sure do but very expensive. Look for a good used one.

Or go with a 'glas one! They are more reasonably priced and more easily available than a new metal one and will also lighten the car quite a bit!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Gotta go to one of the big Sprite festivals this next yr. There might not be any resolution to any questions like this, but, who really cares. Man, I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to meeting some of you at the lake. The cold winter is a lot warmer this yr.

Yep, we gona have a great time. Lots of stuff planed and seemingly more things all the time. No way anyone can do them all.
