hi, guys
I’ve been here before, most recently while I owned a green ’72 TR6 in Sedona about 6-7 years ago. Coming close to my 71st birthday, and my poor health improving, I indulged myself with a ’59 TR3. Always wanted one...a friend in college had one and I was always curious and a bit envious. It was restored about 20 years ago and only driven 2,000 miles since so it needs a thorough going over but is essentially very solid. I’ve had it since April...already done a bunch of little things, adjusted the overdrive switches and actuator, added a radiator shroud, new battery and digital voltage regulator, replaced a 60-0-60 ammeter with original equipment, new handbrake pawl, spring-loaded steering box top plate plus the usual...adjusted brakes and carbs and topped up all fluids. I’m in Southern Florida so intending to drive a lot more this Fall and Winter, not sure yet if I’ll be upgrading the cooling system to allow for high temperatures, heavy traffic and lots of stoplights here although the original fan and “with hole” replacement radiator seem to be handling it if I want to allow “temperature excursions” to the right of center. I have lots of experience with TR6’s (have had 4 over the years for a total of about 200,000 miles driven), also Sprites and B, a Series III Landrover and Lotus 7. The TR3 is a whole new animal...eccentric light switches and strange handbrakes etc...and I’m really loving it so much!! Looking forward to getting to know everyone (and picking your brains!).

I just drove my TR3 yesterday about 160 miles. Very nice drive although I think I put too much oil in after reading the dipstick. I had a little smoke for half the drive. I normally keep the oil about 1/2 quart low as it blows the extra out the block breather tube.
But fun to drive and the weather was perfect.

If it’s not too much trouble, that would be great! (I would have used the old account but my email has changed)
