BT7 Tri carb Backfire

Summer 09 driving home one day, my healey started to back fire on deceleration usually down shifting from 4th to 3rd.
The car ran fine before and after.
I have done a full tune up, new plugs, wires, condenser, rotor, cap, points, had the distributor rebuild by Advance Dist, set the timing to factory setting, topped off the carbs with the proper oil from Moss. Even fixed 2 exhaustt leaks. Using points and positive ground.

Also, When I accelerate quickly the engine stumbles about 45 to 4700rpm but does not do this everytime.

Overall The car runs very good but still backfires when down shifting.

Any ideas?

Thanks Scott

Sounds like she is just a bit lean to me.--Keoke

Check the exhaust for leaks. Especially where the down pipes connect to the exhaust system. Those triangular gaskets give out, sucking air in when you are not in the power mode.
