I have a new convertible top frame for by '62 Healey and I want to install the webbing as they came originally. The first car I had was a '62 and for the life of me I can't remember where the webbing was installed, but for some reason I am thinking that there was one strap installed in the middle of the frame. Can someone get me on the right track here? Thanks in advance.
 
I think the webbing is independent of the metal frame, allowing the top with wooden bow to be separated for storage. The webbing runs below each lengthwise top seam, from the wooden bow back, and was originally sewn to the top at the rear most seam. So you end up with two parallel strips below the seams. The front is attached with tacks to the wooden bow before the top material is installed. If the webbing is to be sewn to the top, that would probably have been the first thing to do, leaving the extra length at the front, to be trimmed when the top material is installed. I would consider Velcro rather than sewing onto a new top.
