BT6 Windshield

Hello

The windshield frame for my BT7 needs to be restored. Can someone tell me if this is chromed or just polished?

Also, the cockpit surround is in pretty bad shape. Can these be polished or is it better to renew?

Thanks

Myles

Hello Myles
If you are referring to the frame that actually holds/surrounds your glass then that should be chromed. If you are referring to the windshield standards/posts they are correctly painted the body color. However, they are aluminum and can be polished to a high sheen and then clear coated. I did that on my BN6 and preferred that look to the body color. One is correct and the other is your preference. Same with the cockpit surrounds. They should be anodized but might be easier to have that stripped off and then polish them up as they are also aluminum. Again, think that looks great and did that to my BN6 and now same on my 100M. You could skip the clear coating and keep a good aluminum/chrome polish on all pieces which would make it easier if you need to rebuff them down the road.
Regards,
Mike
