Brownell book, "How to Restore Your Car"

A couple of years back someone on another mail group mentioned a car restoration book, I think was the title above, and said that it was highly reccomended. It's a multi-make book but has decent coverage of all cars (import or domestic).

Anyone familiar with this book? Is it worth picking up? It's right on the shelf up here at Chapters [similar to Barnes & Nobles in the States], cost is $45 but if it's a good book it may well be worth the money.

I'm not planning full-scale restoration on the Cortina but a book like this could be helpful even for smaller jobs perhaps, if it's the same one I'm thinking of.

James.......That is money better spent on your car, new plugs, points, cap and condensor for that kind of money.......ALSO its been sitting for a while so make sure you get a fuel filter on it.....Probably never had one before but you should put one on......And change it a few times ....Cheap insurance..........Like oil changes

Hope that little Ford is on road soon

Hey Bill,

Old post, don't have any immediate plans to buy said book, decided that awhile back.

Did find a factory shop manual for a 1969 Cortina on the weekend at the Red Deer Automotive Flea Market here in central Alberta, for $8... A nice thick book and a great deal in my mind.

Just missed out on the 1962 Vauxhall Victor station wagon/ambulance die-cast model (old Dinky Toys or Corgi), D'oh! Didn't make my move on that one quick enough.
