British wire wheel compatibility

Thanks to all who replied on my question concerning spinning a wire wheel on the hub and due to worn splines. My next question for all of you British car gurus is: Does anyone have any experience or knowledge as to whether the 16 inch Jaguar wire wheels would fit the hub on an MGB? I'd like to go with a larger wheel and a lower profile tire if possible. The car is already far from factory spec due to mods made by the previous owner, so that isn't a concern. I'm thinking that I could gain significant cornering performance with a lower profile tire. Any thoughts out there in the kingdom? Thanks.
