British vs Japanese carbs

Has anyone ever had any experience swapping over from standard British SU carbs to the Hitachi/SU versions?
I know from my past experiences with both that the Hitachi/SU carb setup was far more reliable in all types of weather and were not prone to loosing a setting(I had the Hitachi doubles on my 1970 Datsun 2000 Roadster and the SU double setup on my AH 3000)
Anyone have any feedback here?
Regards,
John
