I'm joining this forum mostly for the pleasure of browsing, but also because I am a "historian" of British stock car racing between 1955 and 1975. I often come across cars with hybrid bodywork that were once a common feature of this racing, and I will start on some part of the forum by seeking an identity for such a car.
Over the years I have seen such marques as Railton, Bentley, Armstrong Siddeley, Jaguar, as well as US makes such as Packards and Auburns and Hudsons, being artfully adapted to race on quarter mile ovals. This is, clearly, offensive to marque collectors, but it is now history, not reversible, and can be a source of interest. My website has been running for about 15 years now: www.oldstox.com
