British Motor Heritage Certificate

I’m planning on taking a BT7 back to the UK and have read that I need to supply a Certificate of origin in this process. If this is the case would a British Motor Heritage Certificate meet this requirement?
Thanks
Richard

I do not know about the certificate. for sure but ithink so Richard.

However, I suspect that a clear title to the car would help satisfy the requirement ?

Re: British Motor Heritage Certificat

I have imported cars from the US to Canada the main thing they need to prove is that the car is not stolen or been written off in a wreck and rebuilt and sold etc .
The BMHIT cert only shows that the car was built for export and all its details . It doesnt show its history , I would think thats what they are more concerned about .

Re: British Motor Heritage Certificat

You're probably much better off going to your Customs and vehicle licensing authorities for information regarding what they want than our uneducated opinions. Having said that, I did find this site describing the process: https://www.autoclassics.com/posts/reviews/how-to-import-car-from usa-uk One sentence says: Supply an original non-UK registration document (this will not be returned to you). If this document is unavailable, you will need a letter with a dating certificate from the manufacturer. If this is the requirement you are trying to satisfy, I would think the Heritage certificate should suffice.

Supply an original non-UK registration document

So how can a BMHIT certificate suffice this ?

Re: British Motor Heritage Certificat

When I registered my BN4 import the DVLA required, BMHT cert', Import doc' and copy of the US registration doc'.

Re: British Motor Heritage Certificat

Thanks for your reply’s . I understand now that I need a bill of sale and the title document to export out of the US . I’m not worried about registering it in the UK as I’ve done that before for Lambretta and Vespas
Many thanks
Richard

Re: British Motor Heritage Certificat

I've seen a lot of BMIHT certificates with the notation "We confirm that this car was manufactured by the Austin Motor Company Limited, from parts manufactured in the UK at Abingdon, Berkshire, in England, in the year ___" (with the appropriate year filled in). Perhaps you could communicate with BMIHT to ask them why this statement is on some certificates, and if it would suffice for the documentation you need.
