British Invasion 2006 - Stowe VT - Sept 15-17 ??

Can anyone give a NEWB to this event a rundown?

It seems sad, I'm in Mass, but I've never been to Stowe. My girl and I are looking at driving up this year. Could anyone give a simple do's and don'ts list?
"Don't stay at this hotel - it's crap."
"Do not miss the X thing."
"Stay at this hotel if you can..."

That kind of thing.
Thanks,
Pete

Re: British Invasion 2006 - Stowe VT - Sept 15-17

Pete- Hope you get some responses, because we're planning on going for the first time this year too. Made hotel res's at the Ye Olde England Inne because owner was shown as one of the founders of the event. Know nothing else about it.

Re: British Invasion 2006 - Stowe VT - Sept 15-17

Thanks for the reply, Dart. We made a res at the Golden Eagle, on a recommendation of someone familiar with Stowe.

I've been told the Rusty Nail and The Shed are 2 places to visit - if you like good pubs, which I do. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Would still welcome comments from others on the event.

Thanks
Pete

Myself and my friend are planning to be there as well, however we will be doing the day trip thing. Stowe is only about an hour and a half from us. We will be running up route 100 (great lbc road) from Killington, most likely on saturday morning. anyone interested in meeting up would be welcome to join us. We will be looking for BCF patches and window stickers.

Hello All.....
I have some friends attending the Stowe Show this year who are GB car owners and collectors. One of them is a friend who runs a body shop around the corner from me here in Danby,VT.
He will be passing out some of our MicroCar/MiniCar Show flyers(July 7 & 8,2007)so if you own a car under 1550cc keep your eyes open for him and ask about the show. I can't make it this year...have to work /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Cheers....John

I plan on picking 100 up there, but on Thursday morning and with the car on a trailer. If anyone is coming up the east coast on Wednesday, let me know if you think you would be in the Baltimore area in the 8:30-9am range...would welcome the company.

Not sure if it fits anyone's schedule, but we'll be rolling out of Worcester, MA, about 10 AM on Friday morning. Mass Pike West, to 91 North. With a stop for lunch somewhere, I'm guessing we'll probably roll into Stowe around 3PM?

Wanna be famous ? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Last year Mark aka SilentUnicorn took picutures for me of the Singer's at Stowe which I posted on https://www.singercars.com/stowe2005/ with credits to him. Could I bother you guys who are going to Stowe with pictures of the Singer's again this year, I won't ask this next year as I plan on going in 2007 but I could not get a "cheap" enough flight this year to make the wife happy, this makes it 4 years I have missed Stowe.

Anyway, any and all pics of the Singer's will be greatly appreciated, the Singer members who are going to be there are great but they are sometimes quite slow at getting me the pictures.

Re: British Invasion 2006 - Stowe VT - Sept 15-17

Already a 1936 Singer Le Mans (Blue) and a 1947 Singer Super Ten (Red) there, they got there yesterday, extra points for pics of them running around Stowe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, I make a game of it, they are so slow to get me pictures of the events on the East Coast and its fun to get pics up before they send them.

To the original poster to keep it on topic, its probably the biggest single British car show in the U.S. and worth going to over and over again, if it is not the biggest it certainly is one of the best organized.

Re: British Invasion 2006 - Stowe VT - Sept 15-17

Sorry Mike, didn't get back until today to your posts.

Was a great show. Really nice town, and some beautiful cars. 256 miles one way for me. I liked that there was a little of everything, and some real driven cars too, not just all resto-jobs. Patina is my thing, not just antiseptic restorations.

Stopped at Ben & Jerry's too.

Thanks to all who posted.

Wish I had gotten the Singer request too, they are certainly the most evident club and really do a nice presentation. 1,170 miles round trip for us, not counting the miles on the SP running to Sugerbush and back, thru the notch a couple times, etc. There were SIX SP250's there, almost enough for our own class. Was our first Stowe, certainly not our last (I hope). Sorry we didn't run into any of the BCF gang. I would suggest it as one of the NE BCF meeting places in '07. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
