I was loading up my mp3 player the other night, and had to include "MGB-GT" and "1952 Vincent Black Lightning", both by Richard Thompson. It got me to wondering what other british car songs are available. Of course there are plenty of american car songs that run the horsepower gamut from Nash Rambler to GTO. It seems like there was mention of an XKE in "Deadman's Curve" by Jan and Dean. And a song about a "Little Cobra".
SO........what do you have?
(By the way, I was VERY young when I heard some of those songs)

Admittedly, Spinal Tappets are Triumph oriented, but their music and lyrics are FUN-NIE!
Enjoy.

I had forgotten about them, although I was thinking more in terms of "mainstream top 40" kind of stuff.

Isn't there a Beach Boys song about Dead man's Curve where the singer is racing a Jag?

These guys are great! They were at VTR2005, and will be doing their "Farewell" tour at VTR2008 near Detroit. Don't miss 'em!

Not really a "song", but Alexei Sayle's "Hello John Got A New Motor" (UK only I believe) mentions "Ford Cortina" several times. It's rubbish really, but still marginally better than this rap that is so populare right now.

"Trampled Under Foot". Led Zeppelin - Bonzo was a big car enthusiast.

T-Rex, "Just like a car, you're pleasing to behold. I'll call you Jaguar if I may be so bold." Song is "Jeepster"

And: "I drive a Rolls Royce 'cause it's good for m7y voice." Song is "Children of the Revolution"

Greetings...

Bobby Bloom had at least one song that mentioned an MG, "Montego Bay." The opening lyrics:
Vernon will meet me when the BOAC lands,
The keys to the MG will be in his hands.
Adjust to the driving and I'm on my way,
It's all on the right side in Montego Bay.

Of course there was "Spring Little Cobra" by the Ripcords (I think).

I remember hearing a song titled "Hillman Avenger" within the past few years, but I can't remember who sang it.

"Baby, You Can Drive My Car"

Well, it's a British song about a car! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
