The original "British Car Day" will be held on June 27 at another new location, Lilypons Water Gardens in Buckeystown, Maryland. This will be it's 27th year and hopefully the new 'new' location will be better than the old 'new' location. Show hours are: field opens at 8:00am, judging closes at 1:00pm, awards at 3:00pm. Entry cost is now $20.00 (pre-registration is past). For additional information go to www.chesapeakechaptermgtclub.com or email J. Tokar at tokarj@erols.com .

As some will know this show had been held in Bowie, Maryland until a few of the 'local' residents complained that they were being denied use of the park and the noise and traffic. The Bowie town counsel decided to limit the show to less than 500 cars for it to continue. Usually close to a thousand cars would attend. It was one of the biggest British car shows, now just a shadow of what it was.

Isn't that a ---- shame! Just like we are fighting here, with our 45 year old race track. "It's too noisy, yadayadayada."
I think I'll move in next to an airport and gripe about the noise on one hand, and then gripe because I want to go somewhere in a hurry, and can't get a flight out because the airport has to shut down at 2300 for noise abatement!
I wish you well with your event, and rest assured, you are not alone in fighting this battle.

I'm glad to see that this event is still alive. I attend one in the about 1980. I didn't realize that it was in its infancy then. It was excellent then and I can only assume it bigger and better. I was living in the DC area at the time.

Safety Fast,
Dave

I attended the "Original British Car Day" every year from 1992 to 2002 when I moved south to Hampton Roads. The first year was the most amazing sight I had ever seen, over 700 British Cars in one place! Cars, Vendors, Autojumble, they even had bagpipers roaming the grounds! The event got a lot smaller when they had to leave Allen Pond Park, and now they've been chased even further out into the countryside. Of course even their smaller show is bigger than what we have down here.
