British Car Day in New Orleans a Success!!!

We managed to pull off our annual British Car Day, in spite of Hurricane Katrina here in New Orleans. By everyone's measure, it was a rounding success! In spite of the hurricane in August that devastated New Orleans, the club decided to hold our show and 111 cars were on the field. Guys and gals came from all over, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and more. 10 club members sustained total losses on their cars in the storm, one fella lost 2 precious LBC's. The weather was perfect. The tough part was to drive through the neighborhood surrounding the show grounds (Delgado Junior College) where 90% of the homes were uninhabitable. The junior college recieved 2 billion dollars in damage alone. City Park, which surrounds the campus, is full of tents holding workers, mostly Mexicans from Texas and Mexico. But, we pulled it off and everyone had a great day! I'm tired and my feet hurt and I am going to lay down after a 2 hour drive home. And LSU is in the Final Four!!

(oh, and I won 1st place in the TR6 devision...had to add that.)

And I got to meet Tony Barnhill, the Autoist. Another plus.

Congratulations, Bill!

And Geaux Tigers - Great game today!

Sure hated to miss the show, but had a good visit anyway. I'm glad it went well.

Saw a red E-Type roadster on I-59 on the way home yesterday - wondered if he was on the way to the show.

Mebbe next year (again!)...

Congrats Bill. I know what it's like to win your first show out after all the hard work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Sort of validates all the hard work. Especially on peoples choice awards. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

Bill:
I was out of pocket over the weekend and because of a host of reasons could not attend this year. Please post some pictures for the under privileged.

Hey VD,
I only shot two pics, then got carried away with the moment.

Go to www.bmcno.org and you can see a host of pictures. The show was a great success.
