I spent some time yesterday carefully color sanding and buffing the paint on my new Midget. It was repainted once, back in 1989 according to the records that I got with it, and is not a clear coat finish. Since I don't know how much paint I am working with I took it real easy with the sandpaper. The finish wasn't bad but had a lot of orange peel and dry spots.
After wet sanding with 1500 and 2000 grit, I buffed it out with 3000 grit compound on a wool pad. The results were great - look at the reflection of my sanding bucket in the door. This photo was taken before a finish buff with a foam pad, or any wax. I think this litle guy is gonna look OK when I am done.
