First harvest of the season - beans dried in the sun, ready to store in the cornbarn. Kids will shell the beans during the dull winter months. Varieties: jacob's cattle, soldier, white dutch, speckled cranberry, wren's egg.

Root veg still have about six weeks to go before harvest, then storage in the cellar (boxes of sand). Melons and squash still in infancy (darn those pesky beetles!).

How's your garden doing?

BUTTER BEANS!!

Just did another bean harvest today. Notices this years Green Beans have purple flecks in them. Must be something new.Not as speckled as yours are.

Made a pot of green beans tonight. MMM.....there is just nothing in the world like garden green beans. Unless its garden tomatoes, peas, squash, okra.........
