BrakeSeizeUpdate

Many months ago I reported that at a stop light all brakes locked on, a few minutes later all on their own they released. Once home I noticed hose that runs from back of disc on front of master cyl. was collapsed. Could not find vacuum hose at big box store but he told me this gas line would work. Replaced, after three 10 mi. runs it happened again, hose was collapsed. it is a very tight 180deg turn under master cyl to bring it forward. I found in my box of spare metal stuff, a chromed plumbing fixture with a tube of right bend and right size, cut it to fit and used it for the sharp bend part. Again, a few runs, seized, this time came on gradually while driving-ugh. Drove 45 min to speed shop, seems vacuum hoses now small and prepackaged for emissions applications, he told me to use hipresssure fuel-inection hose, it was very thick and hard. Replaced a hose on other side of engine that had bend which also seemed awfully collapsed. Replaced it, same sequence to seize. So called XKs unlimited, bought a few feet of correct hose and rebuild kit for valve attached to front of master cyl. and new valve on passenger side. Replaced the valves, found some metal fuel line bent it as needed and replaced hose completely from the disc on master cyl with segments of metal spliced with short piece of hose (pushed metal in so it met within hose). Replaced pass side with new vacuum hose. Many runs now in and so far so good. Probably just one or the other valves from the beginning, but sort of fun project, think metal hose contraption probably a functional upgrade, but of course not original, shame shame.
