Brakelines???

Hey All,
Since Grey Cat graciously donated his extra 1275 to me thanks again! I've been working steadily on the Midget trying to get it ready for what looks like will be this summer after all. Earlier this year I ordered the brake kit from Moss to replace the front and rear brake pads as well as the springs, clips etc. My question is I need to replace the front drivers side steel brake line that goes from the 4 way T to each of the front calipers and one to the back. I was wondering if I could use an aftermarket line for this application? It looks like a fine thread male inlet into the T connector but the caliper side is a female connection to the caliper line? I'm unaware of any standard lines that have male on one end and female on the other. Any suggestions or do I need to order from Moss?

I'll vouch for the Moss brake lines. They are easy to bend, they have all the fittings already, and they'll never rust. Well worth the expense. If you have to replace the one to the rear, that's the one that takes the most effort to bend to the right shape, so I'd spend a little extra time and replace all the lines. Or, at the very least you would have the lines to do the others on a rainy day.

The fittings and flares commonly found at the local chain auto parts store will not work. The lines going into the T have a bubble flare, and are 3/8-24 fitting with a lead collar. Where they connect to the flexible lines they are a 45 degree double flare(someone correct me if needed).

So, unless you want to spend time hunting fittings and flaring tools, it might be worth the money to buy the Moss kit or the prebent stuff from Classic Tube.

BTW, you can save money by ordering through a Moss Distributor instead of directly from Moss. Usually around 12-15%. Just in case someone here has not already sent you a private message with the details.

:iagree: BTW our own Tony Barnhill (The Autoist) is an Authorized Moss Distributor!

and VB, and .... etc, etc.

Thanks guys,
The other lines actually look to be fairly recent. The only reason I need this one is because it was missing when I got the car. Just so i'm clear there aren't any places that you can pick up just one? I checked classic tube but the 1968 Midget isn't listed as an available line. They said they can copy an existing line however the PO never gave me one. I suppose I could buy the whole kit but i'd rather just gety this one line for the time being.

Would someone like Peter C. sell him the length line with proper fittings and flares?

Used, about anything Sprite/Mg through 1966.
