brake rebuild help

I bought new rear brake cylinders(from TRF) for my 76 tr6 and the brake pipe fitting (exist) won't thread into them. Any ideas? (They still thread into the old cylinders). Have the threads changed?

Yup, Sounds like something has changed, Is it the exact part? I would atleast call to see what they can do for you, I have never dealt with TRF Bot have always heard good things.
Good luck

From what I understand, some of the '76's were fitted with a .75" rear wheel cylinder and this is no longer manufactured. The '76 we have used the same cylinders as the '74 & '75. I don't know that the threads were different but this may be the problem?

The front calipers had a thread change from standard to metric in the '72 model year so I wouldn't put it past BL to have changed the rears especially since the TR6 was going out of production in July of '76.

Like Brian says, get ahold of John at TRF and he should be able to get it sorted out.

Stob62, Here is a wild guess. The existing fittings have become distorted {Flared}by over tightening. very carful dressing down of the tips may allow them to enter the new clyn and then bolt up.The old clyn have been buggered up enough to allow the flared parts to mate up.--FWIW---Keoke
