Brake Pad Shims

I'm replacing the front brake rotors and pads on our '76 TR6, and find that there are no anti-squeal shims installed. There is a wire spring clip over the top of each pad, apparently holding tension against the pins.
I've put the adhesive backed anti-squeal pads on the back of each brake pad, but was wondering if I should now order the metal shims also?

TIA,
Tom

I put the adheasive backed pads on my TR4 and they eliminated the squeel.

I do not have the metal shims. My calipers would likely not accept adding shims since they are original and do not return far enough after I added new rotors with the pads.
