Brake pad retaining pins

I bought a brake pad retaining kit from Moss a while ago, and find that the pins are the right diameter, but longer than the ones I took out of the caliper. The ones I took out had the hole for the spring pin close to the "head" of the pin, but these new ones have the hole close to the other end. I wouldn't be worried, but with the spring pin in place the retaining pin can move almost a quarter inch back and forth. Did Moss give me the wrong pins, or is this a normal replacement? The calipers are the metric thread ones fitted to late TR6, if that makes a difference. As ever, any help appreciated.

Edit: Oh, and where do the bent pieces of heavy gauge wire in the kit go? I am very confused!

Are you sure they sent you the correct pins? Maybe they sent the kit for the earlier UNF design.
