brake line questions

On the advice of a friend, went to Canadian Tire to buy pre-made brake lines for Ms. Triss. (I didn't come home with any.

Are brake lines threaded like pipe threads? the ones I tried went in about 1/4 inch and then stopped. Or is the thread itself wrong? (BTW I know I wasn't using the blue metric ones - OK I was but I figured it out.)

also, all the lines I looked at were male at both ends. My friend was going to cut one end and help me put on new ends - is there such a thing as male-female ends off the shelf?

Finally, this is just to make it pretty, there's nothing actually wrong with the old ones except they aren't nice and straight - is there an easy way to Straighten them?

Different threads John-Peter. If you really need new lines use the ends off of the old ones and put new bubble flares on the new lines that you can get in many lengths any place.

thanks Jack - that's what I was afraid of
