That is fascinating! Had no idea the brain would "prevent" seeing something right there in front of the viewer.

Why am I seeing 12 dots? :cool:
 
My guess is they are placed so some fall in the natural blind spots found in each eye. Not sure we can blame the brain for that.

I tried backing away from the screen and got the same effect, so I doubt it's the blind spot where the optic nerve attaches to the retina.

I tried that too with the same result. One at a time seems to be it. Although checking it again, I found that sometimes a faint hint of a nearby dot seems to present itself. That may just be my eye involuntarily wandering a bit, of course.
