Boy, will my wife be mad. Advice needed...

Actually, mad may not be the exact word; While poking around at the salvage yard, not only did I find the spitfire, which
I know for a fact runs, but a 74 midget, rotted away, but the
engine, A 1275!!, which at least turns with a wrench on the crank. Dual Carbs, seems original, down to the really ugly air cleaners. should I drop buying the spit, which he wants $400 for, no room for argument, or buy the Midget, for $400,
although I have no idea what kind of shape the internals are in. Or, and this is the mad wife part, get them Both for $750?
George

C'mon, George. You know you're going to buy them both, so why agonize over the decision?
Since you've already got the 1500 in the Midget, the Spit would make sense.

Just buy both and avoid the conflict. I'm sure the wife will understand. Of course, a few extra presents in that direction won't hurt!

If he's got 'em both - take $700 & a trailer....she'll understand (remember my prime directive: "She can never say 'no' to you if you never say 'no' to her.")

My story would be "I bought this Spitfire for $750 and it came with a donor car".

Tony, you bad. But you got it figured out.

Yes, indeed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

And don't forget to tell her about the other "extra" parts that you didn't have room for on this trip, but you'll pick up from time to time later when you're in his neighborhood again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Spoken from experience. I convinced my bride last Spring that needed a BE tub to rebuild mine that was totalled in February. The "tub" was delivered with all it's pieces and parts and a 95% complete 1973 RWA Midget donor to boot!!

Don't you just love that "donor"stuff...I recently bought a rebuilt 1500 motor from a guy who's wife wanted him out of the car rebuilding business and when I got there, she helped me load up a 1275 motor that he had rebuilt. I didn't really need it, but how can anyone say no to a free rebuilt motor? I was figuring on setting it on the patio, putting a glass top on it and calling it a table until I can find a car to put it in. See, now I have my next car already lined up since I already have the motor!

You and Drew need to talk!!!!

Funny, I've got a car now with no motor (as Barry pointed out). Can't ever have too many bits, now can we.

You mean to tell me you have a 1275 with a fresh rebuild on it in Little Rock? If you don't want to store it I can find a place there till I could get up that way.. Have a nephuw there.

I love it when a car or parts find a person. We are all jealous of a rebuilt motor finding a new home. Now, the car issue is really serious, and I really don't think anyone can really tell you the right choice, but you have to be ready to acquire things like this when you don't need them for when you do, because they are never there otherwise. Good luck on your desicion.....

I am sure its not a "fresh" rebuild. The guy rebuilt several yearsw ago and never got around to putting it in a car. When I picked up the 1500 motor his wife gave me the second motor to get it out of the way. Right now its in my garage with the block anfd left overs from the 1500 I removed and acouple fo other bolcks from supras my son works on. I am reticent to offer it up right now until I check it out, clean it up etc. Plus who knows, I have enjoyed the midget work so much that I may continue with something that can use this motor. If we decide to let it go, I'll post it here 1st.

If you decide to let it go, PM me first please, condition is not important, I just am going to need the bits. It would get rebuilt and warmed over in any case.
