Bought one...

mmm... monza exhaust too... Nice!!!

I'm impressed, you really did well.

So does this count as an official "garage find"? Does your buddy have any more? Maybe something along the lines of a 60MGA maybe, color not important I'm easy. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

Great score. If you get tired of it, it can live in my garage anytime. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

'67 E-Type for me...BRG preferred but I'm not picky.

Nial,

I'm confused..... just what are alloy racing tires?
Is this a new high-tech thing?

OK, this will make you sick:

He *did* have a Jaguar Series 1 coupe last year and sold it. I do not know the price or any other details, but I am told it went "cheap" and was in nice shape.

Doug: Over here on the east coast we have these new "alloy tires" They last much longer /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
And honestly, I was in such a rush I *though* they were Hoosiers, but they are really Toyo RA-1s (this is what I race on the Spridget....also a decent DOT-legal race tire).

Nah, Nial, you don't want to corrupt your garage with that old piece of '69 junk....I'll be right up with my trailer to haul it away so your property values don't take a nose dive (my neighbors already expect things like that to show up from time-to-time).....hehehehe

Sweet ride Nial! Isn't MG2008 going to be in your neck of the woods? You'll be ready!

Anything for a bud.

Nial, don't be that quick to get rid of the banjo steering wheel, I though the same thing when I got my 67 GT, but after a while, it became one ofthe things I like most about the early cars, my wife just gave me a brand new banjo steering wheel for my birthday, talk about a keeper, the MGB, the banjo steering wheel, and for sure the woman /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Bought one..[new pictures]

Yep.....I'll leave the giant, skinny, banjo steering wheel....it's part of the "character" of this thing.

Anyway, here are pictures that are a little better. Still can't believe this thing "fell into my lap".
Overall, it's very decent and solid. Has a Weber DGV carb conversion that I'm not crazy about (no offense to some of you who like the Weber...but I'll be looking for a set of SUs as time goes on).
Normally, I'm not a great fan of wire wheels either, but this car will remain a standard street car with no serious modifications so running on skinny tires and wheels will be fine. I think I can find a set of two-eared knock-offs pretty easy....will probably switch to those just for the looks. And the 15 year old Contis will get replaced.
Needs a rear window and much cleaning up but nothing that will cost too much.
I can build a roll bar cheaply. Will go over the shocks, king pins, wheel bearings, brakes plus engine various engine stuff.
Most of this work will take place in the Spring. It's getting too cold out for any serious projects, so for now it will "sleep".

It will live in a little, portable storage building for Winter. I'll put old-fashioned moth balls under the hood, in the trunk and the interior...stinks, but it'll keep mice, etc out. If weather warms a bit in the next week, I'll wax it and put leather-conditioner on the interior leather plus some vinyl conditioner for the top.

Quite an aquisition, Nial. Looks really well kept from here. Congrats.

Re: Bought one..[new pictures]

Yep, I likie, good deal, you'll love it as street car. Let me know when you're ready to go back with twin SUs, I can fix you up.
