I had planned on getting some bits done this week on Baby Bertha as it has been lovely weather. I hadn't planned on work getting in the way. A lot. By the time I got home tonight I'd done over 70 hours this week, but still managed to get over to check out the new one this morning en route to the office. As promised it started, although it sounded rough. This could be old fuel, but sounded a bit more serious. Possibly dropped a valve. The body is worse than I remember: I found some bodywork in the rust, but I've seen far worse brought back before. There's a few spares, definately a few salvageable items.
Still, it will be a good reference vehicle to help Baby Bertha get back together. After the first time I saw it I had thoughts of getting it sorted for Spridget 50, although that deadline looks awfully close after todays inspection! I took a load of pics, but left my camera in the car so I'll grab it in the morning and upload them. For now though, I need some zzz's!!
 
I hope he had nightmares of the consequences of posting a new car thread without pics!
 
Was wondering that myself. Maybe he fell asleep on the keyboarddddddddddddddddddd

For ÂŁ300 she ain't bad, at least I'll have a reference on hand while I put Bertha back together. Once Bertha is up and running this one will get underway. After disassembly I'll get her blasted and see just how bad it really is...
 
just teasing...actually looks to be in pretty decent shape...and if it weren't for the like of restorers
there would be no need for the term "classic collector....junk yards already do that for the unsaved...look forward to seeing your progress...
 
Errr, you'd better do something with that.
I've never seen a rear end or top like that.
Still has the 'Greenhous' sticker on it, are they still around.
I'll be over a chrsitmas, if you haven't done anything with it by then, it's coming home with me.
 
The hardtop is a little different I agree. It's connected to that little boot, although the owner has the proper boot lid for when you take the roof off. Fortunately the proper boot lid has been kept in the garage, so it's condition is better than the rest of the car.
I shall have a dig through the history see if I can't find out who made the top originally. And yes, Greenhous are still going strong!
If you want it ÂŁ600 as is sounds about right...
 
ÂŁ300 seems like a good deal for the hard top alone. It looks like an Ashley GT.

Can I have it?
 
If you pay the shipping, then ÂŁ300 sounds good to me for the hardtop. I have no idea what it would cost to ship though!
 
That top is a keeper /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif !! At one point they were quite desirable (and probably still are). It is Fibreglass and thus should be in good restorable shape (wish I could say that for the rest of the body). You should get a nice inventory of spares off the car as well as using it as a referrence for your restoration! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
 
Frank would have that finished out in about 30 days, me about 30 years.

Man, what a project.
 
I'm not fussed about keeping the roof, although I was aware when I first saw the car that it would probably be worth the asking price alone. If I get ÂŁ300 for it, then I've basically got a free Sprite so everyone's happy! Besides, a Sprite should smell like a Sprite, not a canoe...
BTW, did anyone spot the fuel pump inside the boot? Never seen that before, the PO said it was put there during its restoration (many years ago) as they tend to get damaged under the car. Anyone else seen/done this before?
