Where is Bosque del Apache?
That seated hawk looks like an immature Western red-Tailed Hawk.
Ross's Goose.
Sandhill Cranes. We see them in Florida and once in a great while, a stray turns up in CT.
Beautiful blonde. Not often seen in natural state.
Photographer looks better from the back...

Bosque Del Apache is a wildlife reserve about 2.5 hours south or Albuquerque, not far from Socorro (Where the Very Large Array is located).

You are correct on your bird identifications.

Basil - great new avatar graphic.

Once drove from Vegas to Chicago with my son in his RX-7 after he graduated college in LA. It was fun identifying western birds we don't see out east. I have a life list of over 400 birds. I bailed out in Chicago because I had business back in CT.
He's now in Bangkok.

The Cranes in silhouette shot is a stunner!

Basil - in that album, there's a photo of three cranes (?) rising in the sunset. Number 20213 I think.

Really excellent. Bravo.

Thanks, that's one of my favorites too. Another is the dead tree covered with black birds and the purple mountains in the background (#29676). I just printed that one on 13 x 19 Canon Pro paper and WOW! I'm going to frame that one.

Nice photos Basil... You're getting better at this photo thing, I'm starting to watch my back... :cool-new:

Thanks! Coming from you that IS a compliment! (I don't think you have anything to worry about - I'll never have your eye for composition)

Bas, those are some really excellent photos you took.

It looks like you had some really good opportunities to fetch the flying fowl in photos.
