Bonnet striker plate detail picture/advice?

I am working on trying to get the bonnet to fit better and in doing so want to make sure the various bits that the pull handle move are correct and not bent. The top piece is kind of pushed down from the spring striker thing hitting it for 45 years. SHould this piece be flat? Any pictures of a BJ8 etc with a hood that fits good around (the parts that hold the hood down). Thanks
