Bonnet straps on an MG Midget

Hello forum,
I recently finished the restoration of a friend's 69 Midget. The car was in an accident twenty years ago, so the bonnet post does not line up properly. He wants to remove the post and use leather straps, much like those used on the MGT and race cars. Does anybody have any pictures of this on an Midget or MGB? I am trying to show him a picture before we mount the straps.

Thanks.

I wonder if hood/bonnet pins would work better?

My son has them on his 69 Firebird. They look nice and his are stainless steel and are adjustable up and down. Makes it easier to get the proper tension on the hood. PJ
