Bonnet question

Will a mk1 GT6 bonnet fit a mk2 GT6?
And because we all like pictures.

Yes, in that the sheet metal is all the same.* You will have to change the hinge pivot brackets on the chassis; alternatively, you'll have to change the bonnet support tubes that bolt to the bonnet and lead to those pivot brackets.

*There are slight detail differences, such as additional louvers on the later bonnet and different front side/flasher lamps.

The flasser area has a big difference in that the mk1 has the running light and flasher as two units and the mk2 has one unit and the sheet metal is different there and it has 2 more holes. The rest is just like Andy is telling you and he did say something about the flashers.

That is right, if I remember don't you have to make a few mods to the bonnet because of the bumper differences? I just don't remember for sure.

interesting, my computor at work shows the same part number for a,
67-68 GT6 MKI and a
69-70 GT6 MKII,,,

then a completely different part number for a
71-73 GT6 MKII

Very odd...and incorrect! As I noted before, differences are more subtle between "Mk1" and MkII/+. The MkIII is very different. However, with the right front valences, bumper and bonnet hinge pivots, a MkIII bonnet can be made to fit an earlier car...and vice versa!

p.s. My 4000th post...and it wasn't even directly related to Heralds! (Wait'll you see 4001.... )

I agree , very odd. Normally my lookup will show a part number with a letter at the end of it to show that something will fit, but you would have to make it fit.

Well that stinks. Oh well, there's enough GT6+'s in Colorado. A hood should pop up soon.
