Bonnet Latch/Release Adjustment

Short story: Body shop did a great job on a repaint on my BN6. No issues at all with their work. To do the paint they of course removed the doors, the bonnet and the boot lid. Reinstall of all panels was excellent with even gaps, etc.

However, after many attempts they are unable to properly adjust the bonnet latch/release. Right now after it is fully latched when I pull on the cable release it releases, but something is stopping it from popping up all the way (it pops up just a little). To get it to fully pop up I need to hold the release cable all the way out while another person shifts the bonnet a little left and right and then it releases. Clearly something is catching or perhaps the spring is not strong enough or perhaps the cable has stretched and is no longer pulling it fully open?

Of course it worked fine before I took it in.

I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thanks!
Chet

Re: bonnet latch/release adjustment help needed!

It helps to get one person underneath the car looking upwards toward the latch to watch the engagement to give you an idea of which way to move the plate. I've found it's mostly trial and error with making small adjustments at a time until you hit the sweet spot.

Problem solved! Body shop didn't give up and I guess did exactly as suggested. Kept playing with it until they found the sweet spot.

Bonnet release works fine now, car is back in my shop and ready for reassembly.

Thanks everyone!

Chet
