Saw this 2CV parked in downtown Sarasota. I love the wheel pants.

The rear wheel skirts are a common feature on 2CV's, the only wheel that turns is of course the front wheel after all...

You are right.... it's a common aircraft term that I'm just used to. Basically, they perform the same function.
 
I love it, I think we should all start calling fender skirts wheel pants. It does make a certain sense with an aircraft since they are fenderless.
