Body Panels

Hey guys

It's looking more and more like I need new front fenders on my 71 BGT. One was welded to the unibody in order to help hide some crash damage, and the other is rusty.

Now, I saw MOSS has 2 different types of fender. The O/E and the aftermarket. From the price of the O/E, that has to be a Heritage fender.

Now I saw the aftermarket ones are alot cheaper. Yes I realize the adage "You Get What You Pay For.", but has anyone had experience with these fenders? Im eventually going to go with the Team Leibre Sebring flares anyway, so the fenders wont stay stock, but are they really THAT flimsy to warrant being 400 dollars cheaper than an O/E fender?

Thanks guys

Hiya Zack,

When I was doing the body on my B last winter. Moss tried to pass off an aftermarket front driver's fender on me.

I had ordered both front fenders, and both rear quarters as O/E.

Anyway,..the quality was immediately apparent,..the aftermarket was a much cheaper piece of metal,..not to mention that the cut was noticeably different as well.

Then again, every O/E panel we put on, needed some bodywork to fit to the car correctly. So,..who knows.

Cheers,

I just recently went through this. Both require some massaging to make fit. But the Heritage ones fit MUCH better and sometimes the aftermarket ones do not fit at all.

Depending where the tin worm bit your fender maybe you could just replace the part from the chrome strip down. If that's not an option. Try to find good used ones or as a last resort, save your pennies and buy Heritage.
