Body panel beading

Hi guys . I just purchased a new set of body panel beading , and I am having problems getting it to stay in the right position while I attach the outside panel . The metal tabs don't seem to hold very well. Does anybody have any suggestions ? Thanks

I have not down this myself - but can you attach the wings and with tape on the tabs, slide it down in between the body panels? Then a sinple two person job as someone holds pressure on top thile you bend the flange from under?

Sorry, but not clear from your post, the metal tabs don't hold from friction, they are meant to be bent or folded under the flange once the beading is snufed up, you can move them around so they hold at the right parts, shouldn't be a problem if you do this.

Sorry for being kinda dumb here. I was trying to attach the beading to the shroud first , and then attach the side panels . Much easier with the panels attached.

It is pretty easy to slide the tabs between the wings ahd the shrouds if the bolts are started, but not snugged. You may have to put a small bend in the tab to get it to go around the offset in the edge of the panel. A little wiggle and you can get them through. It is advisable to figure out where you want them and position them , rather than realize you have one on the wrong side of a bolt and have to pull the bolt to slide it. I put the tabs near bolts if I can because that is where the tab will be gripped more firmly, but if you pull the tab firmly (and believe me you can pull the tab right out of the bead if you pull too hard)and bend it as you snug the bolt, it works out pretty well. Never bother to try and "tap" the bead into place, as you will find it dents very easily. Firm pressure with a finger only is about all that will avoid denting them.
