TR4/4A Body Mounting Strips

We have the 1966 TR4A car back with the frame repairs complete. We have one of the universal body mount kits from Moss Motors and are in the process of replacing the various body mounts. That process is fairly straight forward.

I need some guidance for location and installation of the various body mounting strips. The shop manual only shows the locations for the rigid axle frame. This is an IRS car.

Questions:
  • Are the strips actually wedged/held between the body and frame or is there typically some clearance above them? My guess is that they are mainly there to prevent noise and metal to metal contact as the body and frame flex due to loading.
  • The shop manual shows a full length strip along each other side frame rail. On this car it appears there are only some shorter segments of the strip along the rail. Which is correct?
  • It seems logical that there should be some strips along the top of the tubular sections that the rear suspension arms bolt to. Is that a continuous piece or a few shorter segments?
  • Is a product like 3M weather strip adhesive appropriate to hold these in place?

Thanks for the help!
