Gents,

Looking to see what source/codes for the following paint:

1) Engine (100-4)
2) Old English White
3) Lobelia Blue

My painter will be using Sikkens for the body, but any codes will allow us to cross-reference.

Thanks, all.

old english white, wt.03ici-2379, lobelia blue, ici code vfx1. category-gb-2. info taken from austin healey guide to historic colors by donald pikovnik. lobelia blue sample was taken from ken freese (ahs 3706) in 1999, used on the 100s in white/blue colors.

Hi John
There was a topic last week, 31 july I think subject "Old English White/BN2" which had a link to all the codes for OEW. Look back to page 2 of the posts.

jrued, the old english white wt.03-ici-2379 was used on the 1953 bn1's all the way to the 1967 bj8. its name "old english white" remained however the formula was changed for the 1966-1969. sprite mark IV. looking at the samples in the book they look the same to me, the lobelia blue and old english white make a striking combination.

Moss and Bill Hirsch both offer the engine enamels on the Healey light green metallic, don't know about a paint code, the Moss paint I used a spray can and was a good quality enamel, it was as I recall slightly lighter than the paint on my motor, but I can't say uf the paint on the old motor was original. I know a lot of people use it.

I have not used the Bill Hirsch paint, but I think it is a different product, I have used some of their other Bill Hirsch products and been pleased with the quality.

Old english white is more or less the pepper white used on new minis or a color called Ford Wimbledon White. They are very similar... in my opinion a little too much yellow... The old english white result from dupont is different of the same color from Sikkens and different from Glassurit and different from PPG. I had like 8 samples from different paint manufacturers and the y all were different....

Lobelia blue I have never been able to find the code on any manufacturer of modern paints and when I try to use the ICi code of the 50s no computer has that info. If someone has a modern code please let me know....

regarding the green for the engine almost all engines have an original unpainted part with the original shade.... or buy a sample from moss and have it prepared at your local paint shop.
