Preping car for new carpet, what have you used for the replacement putty used for water sealing the bolts and washers located on floor pan to frame areas and seats?

I am going to try standard Plumber's Putty, for now

I would not go that route.Regular plumbers putty will dry out in a very short time. There are very good body seam sealers available at automotive paint stores that will last a lifetime.---Keoke

I agree, do not use plumbers putty, I used a brush on seam sealer and it works great. I used a stiff wire brush to clean the area first then brushed on the seam sealer, it dries in a mattter of hours and is paintable.
