Any of you who are familiar with the history of sports car racing in the US have probably run into the name, "Bob Grossman". Bob was pivotal to Jaguar (and Ferrari) racing in the US, during the early years after WW II. He passed away in 2002.
Bob was a nearby-Connecticut resident. Many of us in our little club (EMRA) have seen Bob at our events over the years. He was a nice, friendly and enthusiastic fellow and a big fan of amateur racing (and EMRA is definitely amateur!).
Anyway, we attended our yearly EMRA awards banquet last night, and Bob's daughter sat at our table. It was great to hear her talk about Bob and his involvement in motorsports including all his LeMans finishes. He was involved with all the big names including, Cunningham, John Fitch, Phil Hill, Masten Gregory, and even Walter Cronkite., He really helped create the "golden age" of sports car racing.

We also got to see a half hour movie of an EMRA relay race held at Lime Rock in 1964. The pits were dirt and the main building was only a shed. Almost all the race-cars were British and there were no Japanese cars to be seen anywhere.....things have changed!
I also won the 2003 EMRA small-bore enduro championship, so it was a doubly great night for me.
