Hi All. I am just completing a BN7 two seater and it appears the battery cover in the rear "seat" area was originally black and not body color. Can anyone confirm that for me??

It would've had black Armacord riveted to it, so perhaps it was painted black, so the "different" color paint didn't show through the edges...

I don't know, but my BN6 battery cover was Healey Ice Blue when I drilled the rivets out of it for the first time in 1986.

What color is the BN7 body you're working on; and maybe being black was dependent on what color paint might show through the edges?

This BN7 was originally white but is now Healey blue. The underside of the cover appears to have been black since new but....that was a long time ago.
Cheers, Dave

Hey Dave,
The tonneau area armacord should match your interior color for a BN6 or BN7. This is per Roger Moment and Gary Anderson's book. So go with what ever color your interior currently is configured. You can get different color armacord from AH Spares in UK by the meter or as a set.

Mike

Hi Dave, I owned an original BN7 and the cover was just black vinyl with a slot cut in for the -neg cable to pass through. The one Moss sells is close if you have the correct battery. It should cover all the top of the battery and extend down the sides about an 1 1/2".

Are we talking about a battery cover for just the battery, or about the hinged access panel that provides access and upon which the spare tire originally sat?

Boy, now I am confused too. I was thinking this was about the actual color of the tonneau area behind the seats where the battery access panel is attached with two hinges. THAT is covered in armacord. But if talking about an actual cover that went over the twin 6 volt batteries, didn't even know one of those was made for BN6's or BN7's. Oh well, I'm often confused so nothing new there !
Regards,
Mike

Hi All; I am awake from my nap now !! I meant the hinged metal cover to the battery access which is behind the seats on a BN7. Is it painted black? or is it painted body color? Both sides?? It is then covered on top as per the interior color but what was it painted first?? Next time I be more specific.
Cheers, Dave

Dave,

Mine was painted black on both sides. There was no evidence of body color.

Cheers,
Dean
