BN2 Walnut Steering Wheel

I have read where Healey offered a walnut steering wheel as an option on the BN2. An original one is very rare. Who makes the correct copy of that product. Moto Lita?? Is it very difficult to install and does it require additional accessories?
Thanks!

Installation requires removing the stator tube--unless you have an adjustable hub; not sure those were offered for 100s?--and this is a messy operation. You have to disconnect the trafficator wiring on the chassis, unscrew the olive and extract the tube, at which time you'll lose (most of) the fluid in the steering box. Then, you can get to the big nut that retains the hub. I informed Mike Lempert that the Moto Lita hubs he is using are a bit 'thicker' than the stock hubs, and leave only 2-3 threads on the big nut that retains the wheel. Still, I think the results are worth it:

Had our Lempert wheel for about six years, couldn't be happier!

If you don't want to wait for Mike, Moto-Lita's UK site offers Derrington wheels https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/steering-wheels/derrington-3-equal-spokes/. According to their site, they were original manufacturers. No, I don't work for them.
I have one of each. I have a Lempert-made Derrington on my Sprite that I picked up at Mike's shop, which is in the lower level of his house. My wife and kids chatted with his wife while he showed me his shop. He was very generous with his time. My BJ8 has a Moto-Lita Derrington that I specified during its restoration because I did not want to wait for Mike. Both are beautiful wheels.

Can anyone tell me the size of the steering wheel nut on a 100 (BN1)? I need to remove the wheel so I can center it and likely will need to get the correct socket size in advance.

I can tomorrow. I had to buy it when I removed tube.

I just installed a custom 14" Moto-Lita wood steering wheel in '57 100-6 MM vintage racer. Very happy with the quality and because they supplied many racers in the day, it made it that much easier to order new one from them.
