BN2 Tach Cable Length

I recently lost my tach cable on my BN2. Ordered a new one from Moss and attempted to install. I found the cable to be too short by about 3 to 4 inches. Seems the routing of my cable is through the firewall (not standard, but a nice job). I want to reuse this routing and need a longer cable. Will a BN7 non-od spedo cable work? It will be just slightly longer than I need, but I can handle the extra. Are the fittings on both ends the same for a spedo and a tach?
thanks,

I know you said that you like the tach cable routing just as it is. However, there is really nothing wrong with the original routing & much easier to find cables that fit.

All to say, I don't know what cable will fit. Possibly a cable for an earlier six cylinder car. I believe they are about 15" longer.
