Hey all,
I'm delighted to say that I have added a 1954 BN1 to go
with my 1961 BT7. Nice little car and as most of the hard
work has been done by the previous owner, I am just wondering
if anyone has ever seen a BN1 with red coves to go with a red
interior ? Know black coves were original with a black
interior but as the red interior on this BN1 is very nice,
was thinking red. I would like to stay as original as possible
so thought I would get some thoughts from the BF gang.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike -

Technically speaking BN1s were always painted solid colors from the factory. I think you could order special order from Warwick with colored coves, and certainly dealers would paint them on request in two tone as well.

I guess what I am trying to say is if you really want to be original, it should stay one color, but the reality is you can paint the cove any color you want and make an argument that it is original. You will be deducted in concours points unless you can provide written proof your car was painted by the dealer or Warwick in two tone.

It was with the BN2 that two tone colors became a standard option.

Hey Alan,
Thanks for the feedback ! Guess I have seen a few BN1's with painted coves
and thought that might have been available. Like you said, unless I am going
to be entering it in a concours competition, go with what I think looks good.
Guess I'll have to think about it for awhile.
Regards,
Mike
