BN1 clutch and brake pedal bracket

On a BN1, the bracket that helps hold the pedal pivot shaft is shaped like a channel. Looking from the front of the car, should it be situated like this ] or like this [ ?
Does the channel face in toward the frame or out toward the fender? The body guy that removed it can't remember which way it was originally.
Thank you,
Sopp

From a front view, the bracket on the right, LH side of the car, faces outboard. Used on LH drive cars.

From a front view, the bracket on the left, RH side of the car, faces inboard. Used on RH drive cars.

Thank you Dave and Michael.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Your pictures are worth the answer to a thousand future questions.

After a break, I'm back on the Healey restoration again.
