My BN1 BN1220871 body number 5856 was built Oct 25th 1954. My restorer is having a hard time reading the batch number on the very worn plate put on the bulkhead by Jensen. Anyone got a feel for a number that might be correct for this car?

Simon, the little plate that has the batch/body number was missing from my car when I bought it, although it was some years before I realised this. When I restored my car a few years ago I wanted to make a plate but I only knew the latter, (body) number. Because I keep the register for our local AH club I have access to the recorded numbers of many cars. What I did was look for two cars, one with a lower body number than mine & one with a higher number but with the same batch number. Going on your table, it seems I got it right!

So the original plate has been cleaned up. It was covered with many layers of paint and as you can see if must have been stamped by the Jensen boys on a Friday afternoon after a liquid lunch down the local!!

Derek, it was covered with several layers of paint and was almost unreadable. It has been cleaned up and reinstalled on the firewall so that it can be painted at the same time as the chassis and substructure.
