BN-1 Windshield Posts

I would appreciate any help I can get with the question as to what the finish (color) of the main windscreen posts should be. My understanding is that they were painted the body color. However, my BN-1 was repainted in a different color than the original, when I bought it and the posts are unpainted. They are chrome. Can these be painted, or should they be painted or were some cars supplied with chrome posts.
Thanks for the help.

The windshield posts are aluminum & were ORIGINALLY painted body color. All production cars that I know of were painted. Are you sure they are chrome & not buffed aluminum? Some folks like them shiney. You can paint them if you wish. Chrome or aluminum can be painted with proper surface prep.

Mine were the same Thomas Speer and I've owned it since 1970, (BN1 body 860)and there were no signs of paint or scratch marks from sanding etc. Had to get them anodised so the paint would stick tho!, due to salts in the alloy! as when first painted paint kept lifting due to reaction under paint
