BMW Z3

Other than this: "Ack! I hate you!" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Seriously though, congratulations are in order. I am currently spending way too much time looking for one of these on eBay. I think that one of these will be my next toy.........beautiful cars.

Word of caution though, these cars can be rather fragile in the rear subframe mounting area, in common with several other BMWs. Take a good look under the carpet and false floor in the trunk. Examine the spot welds. If there are cracks around these welds you may be in trouble, and further checking is needed.

Some really good news here is that Randy Forbes, a BCF member and denizen of the Austin Healey board, is a specialist in these cars. He's in Toledo, OH and he fixes these issues on the cars all the time. He can tell you what to look for, where to look, and he can even sell you the parts to fix it, or do it for you if needed.

Check out this thread. Quite coincidentally, I was reading the thread when I noticed your post.

Sorry if I spooked you, but you did ask...... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

P.S. How much were you able to buy it for? Don't have to be exact, just a ball-park will be fine. Told you I was looking to buy one, didn't I? How many miles do you have on it? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Nice car I couldn't tell you about any reported history but I would've ran a vin check and view any recall lists before I bought it. However I'd still recommend looking into it just so you don't get any surprises.

My sister was talking about getting one and I did a little checking and about the only common ownership issues I saw repeated was a number of complaints about interior space from taller (6ft+) owners & the absence of a rear “glass” window in the folding top.

Got any pics?

Will attach pix soon.

It is a sweet little car. I was after a spitfire, but fell for this instead. At least for now.

It has 85000 miles on it, and is in mint condition. I know the previous owner and it was perfectly maintained. It has checked out so far for being sound. Has had no problems thus far. But I will check the welds. Thanx for the advice.

Good luck Steve on your search. I hope one falls in your lap like mine fell in mine!

Bret..cool front license plate!
