BMW installs "artificial" engine noise in the M5

YEP the new M5 is lip-synched. The did a good enough job insulating the sounds out of the car that they added a sound track of the engine played through the audio system presumably in sync with the engine.

I believe some of the Jags used to have a tube through the firewall to transmit the proper engine noise. Not as bad as having to generate it electronically.

Some digital cameras have an artificial shutter noise, too. Pretty silly.

If I recall, there was a law passed about camera noise.......seems privacy concerns of folks surreptitiously taking photos. They have to have the noise.

The massive amounts of electronic gadgetry on new cars, especially the upscale ones like BMW, MB, etc., is crazy. IN ten, fifteen years or so, NO ONE will be able to fix those things. And, some of the new cars actually TALK to you!

TV screens; huge stereo systems; GPS/nav systems; sensors for everything imaginable, electronics out the geetus.

I absolutely love driving my LBC specifically because there are NO buzzers or bells. The only downside is I leave my headlamps on most of the time after I get out of the car. Worst-case scenario from that: I bump start the car. :crazy:
